Mens sana in corpore sano: Palestra d’Orchestra is back

Palestra d’Orchestra turns 5! The orchestral training residence for string instruments that has found a home in the Parco Naturale del Monte Baldo, in Trentino, between the already Austro-Hungarian character of Rovereto and the colors of Lake Garga, is now in its fifth edition and we are fully intent on have it carried out regularly, as happened last year.

From 23 to 29 August we will return to Brentonico to train future talented musicians, increasingly convinced that “music is for the soul what gymnastics is for the body”, to quote Plato. Mens sana in corpore sano. In our days there will be, once again, gymnastics, yoga, body awareness techniques, choral singing, section rehearsals, individual lessons, ensemble rehearsals and concerts. This is why this name, Palestra d’Orchestra, which to some conservative of the world of “classical” may seem not appropriate for a course of musical improvement. But that is a perfect synthesis of what we offer to those who approach the world of the musician’s profession.

Together with me, a wonderful team of tutors with experience in teaching and in important Italian orchestras: Andrea Bellato, Leonardo Bellesini, Daniele Carnio, Mattia Tonon and Luca Volpato. In addition to them, Gianmaria Stelzer, master luthier from Trentino with an atelier in Zurich, will also make his skills and teachings available to the students of the course.

Thanks to those who brought Palestra d’Orchestra up to here and, from this year, thanks also to the Associazione Filarmonica di Rovereto, which welcomes, hosts and organizes – within its activity – our course. It is a nice recognition and a mutual opportunity.
